The Chance Jugend Ferry
The Chance Jugend Fähre is a great Bamberg project that was launched in collaboration with the Salesians of Don Bosco under the auspices of the Bürgerverein Mitte. It is aimed specifically at disadvantaged young people and offers them new opportunities and prospects.
An ingenious solution for Bamberg
The brilliant idea of the Bürgerverein Mitte is to create a transport link between "Mühlwörth" (at Schleuse 100) and Villa Concordia. This simple but ingenious solution consists of a pedestrian ferry that replaces the former pedestrian bridge that connected the island town with the mountain area until 1960.
From an aesthetic and urban planning point of view, this ferry connection is a much better solution than building a new bridge and enriches Bamberg's cityscape.
Integration through the payday project
The operation of the ferry is organised by the Payday Project. This project opens up new worlds for young day labourers in cooperation with volunteer adults and offers numerous opportunities for reintegration into society.
- New perspectives: Young people are given the opportunity to gain practical experience and take on responsibility.
- Strengthening the community: Working together with volunteer adults promotes integration and strengthens the sense of community.
The Chance Jugend Fähre project therefore not only stands for an innovative transport connection, but also for social responsibility and the promotion of young people in Bamberg.
