Counselling bus Manege gGmbH

Since 2005, Manege gGmbH has been involved in the Don Bosco Center for young people who live on the margins of our society. It is an institution in the Berlin district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf with a focus on youth social work, youth vocational assistance and youth welfare and offers holistic support in all life situations. The Manege's work focuses in particular on young people who are at risk of falling into homelessness, crime or drug addiction due to their difficult life situations or debts.

The mobile work of the counseling bus brings the basic orientation of the work in outreach form to the city districts. The work is “open” because it also signals mobile openness and “approaching” people. The employees are “searching” because they can also respond better to people, especially young people, in this form.

It can be assumed that the issues of isolation, loneliness and social insecurity in particular will increase significantly in the coming months and years. This project provides a low-threshold answer to these questions, which is easy to find thanks to mobility and can then be taken up and further supported in the corresponding further assistance and in the transfer to specialist services.

Most of the people supported by the project are aged between 16 and 25. It is estimated that a total of 140 people are directly supported by the mobile work each month.
