SINA

Achievements and Goals:
To date, 16 successful SINA communities have been established, leading to the creation of 81 social enterprises and 973 jobs. By 2025, five additional SINA communities are planned, and the goal is set for 25 SINA communities and over 100 social enterprises by 2026.

Project Objective:
SINA’s primary goal is to enable disadvantaged young people and refugees to become “changemakers” (social entrepreneurs) and “changemaker-makers” (SINA replicators). Through tailored training and support, these individuals are equipped to create their own opportunities and contribute significantly to peacebuilding efforts.

The Palabek Refugee Settlement:
Located in Uganda, the Palabek refugee settlement hosts 59,000 refugees who have fled the civil war and violence in South Sudan, along with 11,000 Ugandans from the northern region. The settlement provides opportunities for education, employment, healthcare, and social services, offering refugees a safe environment and genuine prospects for the future. The long-term aim is to enable them to return home and support the rebuilding of their communities.

The Importance of Training:
The young participants are active contributors to the changes they wish to see in the world. SINA’s five-stage educational approach fosters both personal and professional development. Much like caterpillars unaware of their potential to transform into butterflies and fly, these young people discover their true potential and emerge as social entrepreneurs. This process transforms disadvantaged individuals from passive recipients of aid into active creators of their own futures.

Vision:
SINA communities are dedicated to transforming Africa’s education system and empowering marginalized communities to address their own social challenges. By fostering the creation of social enterprises in a "freesponsible" (freedom and responsibility unseparated) and regenerative manner, SINA achieves sustainable impact. SINA has already driven a profound mindset shift, unlocking the potential of young people. The social enterprises emerging from SINA have directly improved the lives of over 1 million people through their products and services. Many SINA participants have also won international recognition and numerous awards.

Support from the  Chance Jugend Foundation:
The  Chance Jugend Foundation supports SINA by sponsoring three young refugees who have graduated from the Don Bosco Vocational Center in the Palabek Refugee Settlement. These individuals are guided through the SINA framework, gaining the tools and resources they need to successfully replicate it. This unlocks the potential of more young people to create the change they want to see. Social enterprises and jobs are created
